This is the world's first face transplant recipient, Patrick Hardinson. His face as severely burned while working as a firefighter 15 years ago.
He underwent a complete face reconstruction last year. The surgery took more than 26 hours to complete. In included a new nose, new lips, and even a new scalp.
One year later, he's even better than ever.
"My family and I took a trip to Disney World this past June and I swam in the pool with my children for the firs time in 15 years."
Hardison is off feeding tubes and his vision is beginning to return. It's a medical breakthrough.
