A teen entitled as the “oldest girl in Asia” passed away last week at the age of 19 from a rare condition that rapidly aged her body – she died with a body age of 150 years.
Filipino teenager Ana Rocelle suffered from Hutchinson-Gilford progeria syndrome, which causes the body to age eight times faster than normal. The typical cause of death is either heart attack or stroke.
Though Ana did not enjoy a long life, she lived her time to the full. On her 18th birthday she had a princess-themed party with a throne and multiple costume changes. She also snapped selfies with her idol, Filipino singer Sarah Geronimo.
Ana’s death was reported by US-based charity Progeria Research Foundation, which campaigns for sufferers of the genetic condition.
