Trial for Maguindanao Massacre of 58 People is Guaranteed to End on December 2015

Chief Justice Lourdes Sereno vowed that the trial of the massacre involving the death of 58 people in Maguindanao will end before the end of 2015. 90 days after the trial, the verdict will be issued.

The influential Ampatuan clan allegedly ordered the slaughter of 58 people, including 32 media personalities/journalists, back in November of 2009. The motives, allegedly, were to crush a rival clan's candidacy. The brutal massacre, one of the world’s most horrifying attacks against media workers, saw some shot in their genitals before they were buried in a hilltop grave with the use of an excavator.

Two sons of Andal Ampatuan Sr., Andal Jr. and Zaldy, are among 100 people on trial.
