Queen of Quezon City 2015: Beauty Pageant Promoting Gender Equality!

Beauty pageants have different advocacies and purposes, Queen of Quezon City was organized by the Quezon City Pride Council (QCPC), a community-based LGBT organization, in order to promote gender equality.

Going through environmental and cultural immersion programs, which include street sweeping, tree planting, and slum area visiting will help the candidates become more socially aware.

The pageant is fashioned after the Gender Fairness Ordinance of Quezon City, promoting gay pride and gender equality.

"It is a step towards opening up society to accept the LGBT community as co-partners in community and nation building," said QC Administrator Aldrin Cua.

"The Queen of Quezon City just shows that we have come a long way with regards to gender fairness and equality," said QC Councilor Dorothy Delarmente.

Comedian Leo Martinez, singer Michael Pangilinan, and "Pilipinas Got Talent" champion El Gamma Penumbra will perform during the event.

The winner will receive P300,000 and the honor of becoming the QCPC ambassadress.
