Most Expensive Dog Considered Social Status by Chinese Entrepreneurs

In China, a Tibetan Mastiff puppy was sold for almost $2 million, setting the record as the world's most expensive dog. Originally, the Tibetan Mastiff breed was domesticated as shepherding guard dogs in the Tibetan Plateau.

Over time, the large, furry and uncooperative dogs are prized by rich Chinese for their so-called fierceness; aside from this, they have developed the reputation of becoming a status symbol for a growing class of newly established entrepreneurs.

  1. Thank you for this post. The Tibetan Mastiff is one of the most primitive breeds that is still in existence today. Hailing from Tibet, it was originally used as to guard livestock and property. They are still relegated to this role on occasion, but they also serve well as a family companion and a show dog. See more http://dogsaholic.com/breeds/profiles/tibetan-mastiff.html
