Girl Born Without a Face Has Undergone 45 Surgeries

Juliana Wetmore, a girl in Jackson Florida was born without a face. Her face didn't look human when she was born; because of the absence of nostrils and even eye holes, her mother couldn't believe it. They had to do surgery so she could open her eyes and breath through her nostrils.

Juliana has a rare genetic condition called Treacher Collins Syndrome, which generally affects 1 in 10,000 people. She is missing around 40 percent of the bones in her face, so her face appears elongated and sagging.

She is currently attending an elementary school in Clay County, Florida. She still receives nourishment through a tube but they are hopeful that she may eat on her own someday.

She has had a total of 45 surgeries since birth.
