Thomas Edison's Talking Doll Invention Speaks After 120 Years of Silence


Thomas Edison is one of the most famous inventors that we know until today.He was a businessman and at the same time an inventor. He developed many devices that we people are using today such as phonograph, the motion picture camera and a long lasting practical electric-light bulb.

But in the late 1800's, Thomas Edison got into the doll business, not long after the phonograph was invented.He imagined a line of toys that would make a various sounds, a toy that could imitate the sound of it's figure like a dog that barks,the sound of a steaming train and a talking doll.But that time, talking dolls are popular among the children at that time but they only rely upon technology that imitates simple words like "papa" and "mama". Edison's dolls features actual recordings human sound and speech that activates by cranking a shaft that is located at the doll's back.

Recently,the fragile began to speak again after a Century of sleep. Thanks to a new technology that can reconstruct audio from previously unplayable recordings that is developed by Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory and the Library of Congress.

The Dolls started singing a children's nursery rhymes such as "Twinkle Twinkle Little Star" and "Hickory Dickory Dock" thanks to the US government Laboratory.
